Hirose DF36 Series Compiled Reference Manual

Product Overview

Hirose DF36 series is a 0.4 mm pitch vertical mating type connector. It provides flexible options for a wide range of applications. For applications that require better EMI performance, its standard version provides perfect shield with multi-point contact grounding springs. For applications that require smaller footprint, its space-saving version only occupies 2.8 mm in depth. Besides, despite the vertical mating design, its typical height is only 1.5mm, well below the numbers from competitors. Within the 1.5mm space, it managed to secure 0.4mm mating length, which effectively provides high contact reliability with its unique pinching design.

There are several facts to be noted when selecting parts from this series.

• As of Apr 2025, the space-saving version is only available for 15, 20 and 25 pin products. On the other hand, there is no standard version for 20 pin product (See part number list below for details).
• At plug side, the standard version has the same size as space-saving version, even though their corresponding receptacles differ in depth. For plugs, the two versions only differ in the finish of exterior shell. More specifically, the standard version is plated with tin, while the space-saving version is plated with gold. It is recommended to use space-saving plug for space-saving receptacle, and standard plug for standard receptacle, even though the plugs are mechanically compatible with each other.
• There used to be a special version dedicated for repeated plug / unplug test, annotated in part number with a "J" right after the initial DF36(A), but now deprecated. Therefore, such part number is not available on Hirose's site any more.
